All right, the premiere of the Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Online showcase. They are going bigger with the multiplayer features, with both having PVE and PVP modes. As well as a slew of special scramble missions and boss battles. Being the top Ace in the skies will be the goal, but let’s get into each part of the showcase. Don’t worry, pilots, it will be brief.
Rise Above:

Not going to sugarcoat any hype for Ace Combat 8. If you ever watched Iron Eagle or Top Gun, then you already know the thrill Ace Combat brings since the PSone era. It mixes both worlds of Simulation and Arcade action. Being that Bandai Namco is behind this, it has some what of an anime feel to the story. Most of the boss battles are out-of-this-world craziness at times. Either you are fighting a superpowered drone plane, a big airship, or some railgun cannon. Yea, that last one you will have to fly through the barrelt to take it down all Luke Skywalker style against the deathstar.
In the online mode shown in the video below, pilots will have to create their avatars and then sortie into combat. It is always good to unlock more cosmetics as you play and progress. Even go so far as to detail your plan with your imagination on how you want to rule the skies. It is so beautiful the way these planes can maneuver, and pilots will have a pick of over 30 planes.
PVP or PVE is your choice:

The best thing about any online experience is the choice of how you want to tackle the challenges and what environment you want to be in. PVE will feature a competitive mode against the computer at the end. The team with the highest points will be the victor. PVP will be the real test against other pilots, where your tactics, depending on the plane you choose, will factor in your victory or defeat.
“You’re a fighter pilot, adrift at sea in a rescue boat until the outdated aircraft carrier, Endurance, pulls you aboard.
Your homeland’s navy is shattered. The aging vessel, its decks crowded with refugees, has already retreated far from the front lines.
July 2029: The Federation of Central Usea (FCU) has fallen under a lightning invasion by the Republic of Sotoa. Most of the nation is occupied, the military is scattered, and the Endurance is just one fragment of what remains.
On this ship, you’re given a single name: “Wings of Theve”. A legendary ace, a symbol of hope, a name tied to Theve, the FCU capital.
But that legend was a lie; it was a story made to keep morale alive. Now, you must carry that name and take to the skies again. With three new comrades at your side, fight to reclaim your lost homeland”
BWAC Personal Take:

What else can we say but, “It’s time to kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy!” Ace Combat 8 is going to be a beefy sequel, and I am looking forward to the campaign and online. I just hope they have enough customization options to satisfy this sky beast. Would be cool if they added customizable helmets to either have a beast creature design of some sort. A Swat Kats collab would be amazing, but I know that is asking too much, but still a fun thought.
October 2nd, 2026, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve drops on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It will also feature full crossplay, so take to the skies with your buddies no matter the platform. This is going to be a fun experience, and I can’t wait to see many of you in the sky. Stay tuned for our review and streams coming soon. – Beast Out –
