Hey, Sony, have a seat, buddy. So, there are reports of you keeping your single-player adventures to yourself. This is the clarity that was given by Bloomberg. Held at a town hall meeting from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst.
The confirmation follows a Bloomberg report from March, in which sources claimed titles like Ghost of Yotei and Saros will remain exclusive to PlayStation 5 going forward, while online games such as Marathon and MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will still be made available on PC.
Upcoming single-player titles from Sony Interactive Entertainment include Marvel’s Wolverine, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and God of War Trilogy Remake, which will presumably also remain exclusive to console. External publishing deals like Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which will also be available for PC, do not seem to be affected.
The takeaway:
Currently, Sony has bigger problems to worry about. As of right now, they have a hacking situation yet again. This time, it is serious, where the hackers can bypass 2-factor verification. As well as battling a class action lawsuit that shows they were a bit too greedy with the tariffs. Also, just announced that they are raising the prices for PlayStation Plus again for new consumers. A lot is going on right now, and if they want to keep their single-player games. Then there is not much of a choice. There was a rumor that Sony might pull an Xbox and make their own PC app, which would be the smarter route, as they do have the PC PlayStation Now app. But those rumors have been snuffed out.
Let’s see how this works out, but it does suck that PC players won’t be able to enjoy Wolverine when that drops. I need to look into the writes for certain IPs because these other studios should just make their own exclusive hero game. What say you on Sony’s latest move? – Beast Out –
