Good morning, gamers. Real talk, I was going to do a reaction video of the State of Play on Phantom Blade Zero last night, but it was a work night, and it ran at 10 pm EST, and this Beast is not a young gamer anymore. However, we always have a new day to discuss what we saw anyway. Now the hype was already strong, but being that the fact that Donnie Yen was creative director blew my freaking mind. “Kung Fu Punk” is the style incorporated into Phantom Blade Zero, which is a mixture of martial arts and steampunk in this game’s world. A trippy combination is the first time this has been introduced. How well will this work? We will find out when the game drops.
BWAC’s Personal Thoughts:

Not going to waste your time regurgitating what was already said in the videos and what other news outlets have repeated. I do hope that Phantom Blade Zero adds to what we already experienced. Because as many of us know, once the industry sees what is popping out there, they just copy the idea with some changes, but not enough to be their own. Phantom Blade Zero was giving me Black Myth Wukong vibes at first, and being that the protagonist is hit with an infliction that gives players a 66-day time period to fix whatever is going on. Kind of felt like V from Cyberpunk but in a Wu Xia setting.
Considering what you saw in the deep dive, what say you? Is this a day one for you? Let us know in the comments and let’s discuss. Weirdly, Soulframe Liang stated, “It is not an open world game nor is it a linear adventure from beginning to end.” Call me simple-minded, but besides the story, it will be the combat that is the selling point for me. Being that I saw 25 different weapons, and one of them being the Iron Fist. I am all about hand-to-hand combat. But that is the beauty of finding the right weapon that suits you.
Are you trying to confuse me or something with that? Being that this is a mixture of a Wu Xia movie and a video game is my jam. Just hope it lives up to the ambitions, and looking forward to seeing if there are multiple endings. Stay tuned for more details as they come, and expect a review in the future. – Beast Out –
