Sega has officially revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a two-in-one release that brings Kazuma Kiryu back to the spotlight with a full remake of Yakuza 3 plus an all-new story expansion. The collection launches February 12, 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The reveal trailer showcases updated visuals, modern combat enhancements, and a deeper look at the emotional journey that made Yakuza 3 a fan favorite. But the real surprise is Dark Ties, a brand-new storyline built exclusively for this Kiwami package.
During the demo showcase, Sega Community Manager Carlos and Sr. Product Marketing Manager Brent took players behind the scenes with hands-on gameplay, showing off how this remake honors the original while evolving the experience for a new generation.
What Is Yakuza Kiwami 3?
Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a ground-up remake of the 2009 classic, rebuilt with modern graphics, smoother combat, and enhanced storytelling. Players once again step into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu, who has traded the streets of Kamurocho for a quiet life in Okinawa.
But peace never lasts in Kiryu’s world.
When the past comes calling, Kiryu is forced back into the criminal underworld, uncovering dangerous secrets that threaten everything he’s built. The Kiwami version brings refined combat systems, reworked cutscenes, and a fully modernized presentation while preserving the heart of the original story.
Dark Ties: A New Story for the Dragon
The biggest addition in this release is Dark Ties, a brand-new narrative expansion included alongside Kiwami 3.
While Sega hasn’t revealed full story details yet, Dark Ties is designed to bridge gaps in Kiryu’s legacy and introduce new conflicts that expand the lore of the Yakuza universe. It features:
