This is where you give credit where credit is due and Xbox is killing it at the moment. Besides all the other things Microsoft was failing at. As gamers, it has to be said that the backwards compatibility options are unmatched. Being able to go into the Xbox game store and still acquire old titles from OG Xbox and Xbox 360 is delightful. Now, keep in mind that there are still some licensing that caused some games to be delisted. If you missed out on purchasing titles, it sucks. However, the library is starting to be accessible on the PC app more.
OG Xbox Games On PC!
Yesterday Microsoft Xbox posted that these four titles are now available on the Xbox PC app to play. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge was already available through the cloud system. Now gamers can just download them directly on the PC app without streaming. That is a big win in my book and hopefully we shall see more gems added as we go.
The library is already huge spanning 4 generations as it is and growing. The only downside is rushing to pick the game up before a licensing issue takes it away again. This also coming from trueachievements website.
“At the time of writing, no official support for Xbox 360 games on PC has been announced. In his announcement, VP of Next Generation Jason Ronald only gestures to future support for the wider Xbox Backward Compatibility games library — a library comprised mainly of Xbox 360 games. So, it does seem exceedingly likely that support for these Xbox 360 games on the Xbox store will come to PC, but as of yet, Xbox is playing it cool.”
Final take away:
I hope this stays the norm, even when the Xbox Helix next gen console drops which is rumored to be a PC/Console hybrid. Also, we got news on the PS Vita being able to play Xbox Cloud Gaming giving more devices access to the service. There have been some dataminers getting details that even Xbox 360 games might also come to the PC app. But, we shall see what comes to light.
