IO Interactive Goes Independent

Good morning, gamers. Where did the industry go wrong is the question many are asking right now. As we stand, there are more cancellations and more studio closures, but luckily some companies have been sold off and now can do what they want independently. IOI just released a statement not only announcing their freedom, but also stating that the IP that they were working on, Project Fantasy, is under their full control. Here is a snippet of their statement.

IOI is one and not done!

Dear gaming community,

Following the end of our external finance partnership on Project Fantasy, IOI has regained full ownership of the project and our IP. We will continue to develop and fund it independently amongst our other projects. With this context, we had to find a new balance for the long-term future of the studio, focused on the success of our main internal core titles instead of external projects and potential mobile game derivatives. This has meant making changes as well as proposed changes across our studios: the closure of our Istanbul studio and starting a process to part ways with colleagues who have been a meaningful part of what makes IOI what it is.”

Factory Reset:

Seems like all these companies are doing a factory reset to try and salvage what they built. Inside Xbox is currently doing the same, preparing for Project Helix. This next-gen console that Microsoft wants to release needs to be cost-effective, so they are doing what they can while we all deal with the tech crisis. Tech components are at a record high, and sadly, they may not come down in price. Still waiting for the update against Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. Something has got to give, and as consumers, we need to keep our voices loud and our FOMO in check. – Beast Out
