VED: Recure First Impression

Morning gamers. Over the weekend, I tried out VED: Recure, and I do have a gameplay video showing off what I went through. However, we need to add a bit more to the video. Come to find out it is an Indie Live Expo going on through Steam. This is a good time to check out all the latest demos, but right now, let me share my thoughts.

VED: Recure is a bit, Meta!

As an old gamer, VED: Recure gives off an Isekai which reminded me of Captain N: the Game Master, but with a twist. This around I related to the character a bit, where he had burned out, friends that don’t show up to the game. Then, falling asleep before even starting up the game. Until an entity rips your soul from your body and drags you into the video game world! Oh yeah, there is a Video Game god in the form of a cat that hits you hard with a heavy truth.

“Meow! Once you loved video games. Have you lost that passion for gaming forever? Every time you feel like playing, you tell yourself, ‘Next time for sure.’ Then you put it off with no follow up at all?”

Well, that is what Demeowrge is explaining, what VED is, which is a disease of some sort affecting many gamers. This is why I felt attacked by that damn Cat god. That is the premise, and it seems it is up to you to find your love of gaming again!

Gameplay is fast, but polite

Many games in this genre are adopting the fast-paced combat from Devil May Cry. You have your dodge that causes a slowdown into a fierce attack. An effective block button adds buffs that you gain through each fight. I do like the added mechanic of “Invitations” that leads to a major boss fight. Now, I ended the demo as I gained another character, and it is giving a harem-style mechanic from what I saw on the Steam page. You will just be playing as different warrior women with their own weapon mechanics. That’s not bad at all.

I do like that you have paths on different buffs you get, and you will have to use in-game currency to buy some buffs or replenish your health. This gives you a choice of mechanics on how you want to build up your character’s skill tree.

Final Impressions:

VED: Recure plays well and looks gorgeous. The funny thing about the enemies is that they have a polite feature. They should have more pressure to amp up the action in the combat. Instead, they wait for their turn in an attack order that would make any player feel safe. While I do have gaming PTSD, I am watching my back regardless.

Then you have the unique boss fights that bring some level of comedy to the mix. Quite an interesting concept and story that makes me want to see where this goes. VED: Recure is available to check out on Steam, but if you have checked it out already, let me know your thoughts. Stay tuned for more news and check out our latest review. – Beast Out
